Want a shock? Go get tested for heavy metals. Your jaw will drop when you see the results.

I know, because I see the reactions in my own clinic every single day.

The reality is, nearly everyone has way too much lead, mercury, arsenic, and other toxic heavy metals inside them — and these metals are a major cause of supposedly incurable conditions.

I say “supposedly” because I often can cure or improve them, and I’ll tell you everything you need to know to get started on your own cure in a moment.

First, a new study confirms the role of toxic heavy metals in autoimmune disease — especially among women battling disorders such as thyroid disease, MS, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and lupus.

Researchers examined data on 2,047 women who took part in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and compared blood levels of mercury to the presence of the autoantibodies made by the thyroid in response to autoimmune diseases.

Sure enough, women with the highest blood levels of mercury were more than twice as likely to have high levels of the thyroglobulin antibody linked to those diseases.

Now, you’ve probably heard that we all get exposed to metals, and that’s true. It’s almost impossible to avoid them completely.

But you’ve probably also heard that the tiny levels we’re routinely exposed to — like the mercury in flu shots and amalgam dental fillings — are harmless, and that’s an out-and-out falsehood.

Want proof? Look no further than the same new study, because the “high” levels of mercury linked to those high levels of the thyroglobulin autoantibody weren’t high by current standards at all.

In fact, they were under 5 micrograms of mercury per liter — or well in line with what the mainstream considers “safe.”

You see, no amount of mercury, lead or other heavy metals is really safe. How do I know that? Simple: There’s no known healthy function in the human body for these metals!

If you suspect exposure to mercury or any other heavy metal, it’s not enough to find the source and eliminate it. Heavy metals don’t leave the body like other toxins. They accumulate — and the more they accumulate, the sicker you get.

The best way to rid your body of mercury and other toxic heavy metals is through chelation, but don’t try any of the do-it-yourself treatments that reach the market from time to time.

An experienced holistic doctor can test you for metals and provide you with the chelation therapy needed to remove anything that’s accumulated — and if you have thyroid disease, that’s another reason to get tested for these metals.

If you would like testing and treatment for these disease-causing metals, you can contact my Stengler Center for Integrative Medicine. You can find more information by visiting markstengler.com.

There's an easy way to ease the constant pain of rheumatoid arthritis. It's free, requires no visits to the doctor, and can be done just about anywhere.

There’s an easy way to ease the constant pain of rheumatoid arthritis. It’s free, requires no visits to the doctor, and can be done just about anywhere.

All you have to do is get yourself moving again — but the latest research shows that four in 10 rheumatoid patients are almost completely inactive.

This isn’t by some exaggerated self-reported measurement, either. In this study, 176 RA patients wore accelerometers to measure their activity — and 42 percent of them never got even 10 minutes of sustained movement over an entire week.

Many of them said they didn’t move because they didn’t believe it would help… while others told researchers they just didn’t feel motivated.

Here’s some motivation that I hope will make a believer out of you: Moderate activity — and we’re not talking about pumping iron or training for a marathon, mind you — has proven time and again to help ease the pain of rheumatoid.

Now, I get why so many sufferers won’t try it — and if you’re among them, I can hear you shouting at the computer right now: “It hurts too much to move!!!!”

I get it.

But believe it or not, once you start moving that pain often goes away and then some — and it’s perfectly OK to keep it light, because even simple stretching exercises can bring real relief.

One study found that tai chi — the slow Chinese movements often practiced in parks in the morning — can decrease pain, increase function and give RA patients the confidence they need to keep moving.

Another study conducted by Johns Hopkins found that eight weeks of yoga can decrease swelling and tenderness in the joints of rheumatoid patients.

And if yoga and tai chi aren’t your thing, you can try any number of activities — from a brisk daily walk through your local park to gardening. Just pick something you enjoy and keep at it.

But while getting more movement can help ease the pain of RA, it won’t cure it. RA is an autoimmune disorder — and the only way to stop or reverse it is to find out why your immune system is attacking itself.

In many cases, it’s a food allergy — and simply finding the foods that trigger your arthritis and learning to avoid them can end the pain for good. A naturopathic physician can help you with that.

Dr. Jonathan Wright has also found that many RA patients suffer from low levels of hydrochloric acid and pepsin in the stomach. To find out how to check your levels — and boost them if you’re running low — read his free report on the unexpected culprits behind rheumatoid arthritis.

My favorite part of any drug commercial is the looooooong list of side effects at the end–the rhythmic chant of all the “bonuses” you might expect when you take the med.

I always wonder who in their right mind would swallow a pill that actually advertises “oily spotting” or “male breast growth”–but millions do, and they’re finding out the hard way that those side effects aren’t just words in a commercial.

They’re the real deal.

Researchers say more Americans than ever are suffering drug side effects, with more than 2.2 million adverse events from name-brand drugs reported to the FDA between 2000 and 2009.

That’s more than all the adverse events reported in the previous three decades combined!

And here’s what’s really crazy: It’s actually getting worse. The researchers say the number of reports is increasing by 11 percent a year.

These aren’t just people who get a little rash or cottonmouth, either–more than 40 percent of the side effects reported between 2000 and 2009 led to hospitalizations… and 15 percent of them resulted in deaths, according to the study in the Archives of Internal Medicine.

Since only a fraction of people who experience side effects actually report them, the real totals could be much higher–up to 10 times higher, by some estimates.

Some of the most commonly reported side effects came from the recombinant DNA products used to fight rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn’s disease. Because these drugs hit the immune system, patients who take them are prone to infections.

Other drugs also near the top of the side effect list included the diabetes drug Byetta, the osteoporosis med Forteo and the Ortho Evra birth-control patch, according to the study.

The researchers say people who take multiple meds should be sure to get them all from the same place, where the pharmacist can check for interactions–but I’ve got a better idea: Find a way off the meds completely by working with a skilled naturopathic physician.

When you can’t avoid a drug, pay close attention to your body–and if you start to experience anything unusual, be sure to tell your doctor.

Then, file your own report with the FDA right here.

After decades of refusing to accept any of the substantial evidence of food's role in rheumatoid arthritis, the New York Times recently examined the latest research… and concluded that there may be something to it after all.

If you’re one of the regular readers of Health Revelations, then you already know all about my plan to combat rheumatoid arthritis.

It’s a little too long to explain here, but I’ve found the heart of it to be a food allergy. As I laid out my simple, safe and natural step-by-step plan, I predicted that every doctor will be treating it my way within 10 years.

Maybe we won’t have to wait 10 years after all.

After decades of refusing to accept any of the substantial evidence of food’s role in this condition, the New York Times recently examined the latest research… and concluded that there may be something to it after all.

I had to read it three or four times, then call my wife over to read it to me just to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating.

Once she assured me that there was nothing wrong with my vision, I sat down and read it again.

They almost have it right, saying “there is some evidence that certain diets may help with arthritis symptoms.”

But of course, they’re not quite there yet. For one, they never used the word “allergy” when they talked about food as a potential source of the problem. And they looked at overall diets – the Mediterranean diet, for example, and vegetarian diets, rather than how specific foods trigger symptoms in people, which can differ widely from one person to another.

It’s not easy to undo decades of poor education on arthritis. The drug companies sure as heck don’t want you to know that there’s a simple, drug-free solution. They make billions on these meds, and they’ll do everything they can to make sure that gravy train stays on the tracks.

But many of my patients are having the last laugh, throwing out their meds for good as they stop and even reverse their damage from rheumatoid arthritis. You can wait a few more years for the mainstream to finish the turnaround and start treating RA this way – or you can subscribe to Health Revelations, read the June issue in the online archives, and get healthy now.

Then you’ll have the last laugh, too.
